About Author Laura Magner . . .
Laura Magner is in her 17th year in education, teaching at the 3rd and 4th grade and as a gifted resource teacher for the last 7 years in Lilburn, Georgia.
She received her M.Ed. and Gifted Endorsement from Georgia State University and her B.S. from the University of Georgia. She has presented staff development at the local and county level as well as at the Alabama and Georgia State Gifted Conferences and the Southeastern Home School Expo.
She has been honored as the Georgia Tech-sponsored Teacher of the Year at McLendon Elementary School in Decatur, Georgia. Through grants, she has involved her students in community service and leadership activities, and has received grants from Kids in Need/SHOPA Foundation for innovative classroom projects, and this year was awarded a T@each grant from Best Buy Corporation.
The basis of her best-selling book Creativity Calendar is the late Dr. Paul Torrence’s 4 Principles of Creative Thinking. It includes activities for every week of the year to encourage fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration.
In her newest book Researching Adventures Laura introduces teachers to the world of GLYPHS as products produced from research activities.
Laura’s sister is an art photographer, her twin brother an engineer, and her husband also a teacher and band director. When she’s not the assistant den leader for her son’s Cub Scout den or enjoying the park with her daughter, Laura is the school’s captain for Relay for Life and a volunteer at the neighborhood Co-Op. Reading, sewing, shopping, and writing for educators rounds out her spare time.
